Her father OMKAR MITTAL is a businessman and mother is housewife. Payal studied at ROORKEE.She did her graduation in BBA from GARHWAL UNIVERSITY. Her parents wanted her to be a Doctor, but she was more keen on theatre and film in industry. She belongs to a middle- class Hindu family. She was fond of acting since childhood.
